It forms complexes with catechins, just as it does with many other compounds that cause discoloration of teeth. The polymer can be effectively used to bind and remove stains through hydrogen bonding with chemical compounds.

KLUCEL EF PHARMA is a nonionic polymer that is completely soluble in both water and polar organic solvents like ethanol. This grade is the pharmaceutical version of Klucel EF and has a viscosity of 300-600.

POLYPLASDONE™ XL by Ashland Specialty Chemical acts as a rheology modifier and tablet disintegrant. It is a non-ionic, water-insoluble but swellable crosslinked PVP homopolymer. Due to porous particle morphology, it acts as super disintegrants, providing rapid disintegration to denture-cleaning tablets.
